How do you run an existing bootcamp from a usb drive?

I have an existing Windows operating system Bootcamp on an external solid state drive that I cloned from my old MacBook Pro. Is there a way to boot that operating system from the drive?

I tried connecting through my USB connection and holding Option during the boot process, but it did not see the Bootcamp drive (though it did find the cloned OSX operating drive).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

what is the year/model of your Mac? What is the Windows version? How was the cloning accomplished?

Mid 2015
MacBook Pro with Retina Display, 15 inch.
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Windows 10
Cloning was through Carbon Copy Cloner application

1. CCC does not work with Windows - https://bombich.com/kb/ccc4/can-ccc-back-up-my-bootcamp-windows-partition .

2. If the clone is from a pre-2015 Mac, there are additional issues. You will need Winclone to even attempt booting from the external disk.

Kind of what I figured. I guess I will just recreate the Bootcamp partition. I did not store anything real important anyway.
